A little about Kum Kula bush Lodge
Kum Kula has been the secret treasure retreat of Roy and Monica Russell for the past 30 years. They have lovingly grown it to the sanctuary it is today. It is their desire to share this tranquillity and beauty with other nature loving people. Kum Kula is one of a group of landowners collectively known as ‘Jabulani’. (Zulu for ‘Rejoice’ or ‘Come to bring happiness to everybody’). Jabulani is surrounded by internationally acclaimed private nature reserves and views of the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range.
In April 2012 the property was opened to guests, hosted by their son Clinton, and, ‘Kum Kula Bush Lodge’ was born. A new and exciting venture.
The six double rooms have recently been renovated with en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds. The picturesque pool, an attractive feature in the oasis-like garden provides a cool, splashing welcome to anyone returning from a hike in the bush, even if it is just to wash off the dust! The viewing deck and boma blend into the natural bushveld amongst the grand olde trees.
Experience the Bushveld at its best by day with a steamy cuppa at sunrise or gaze in sheer wonder later at a glorious sunset with chilled sundowners a-top the Viewing Deck under the glittering African sky or whilst relaxing around a crackling fire in the Boma by night.
Clinton offers guided bush walks on the property where one would have a good chance of viewing Wildebeest, Zebra, Nyala, Waterbuck, Warthog, Vervet Monkeys and Giraffe as well as over 200 identified bird species. Bushwalks and ‘Big 5′ game drives can be arranged at reception.
This is the place for the guest who relishes silence, beauty and relaxation.
